How to play Pearls

· Leer en español

Pearls is a loop puzzle: one line, drawn from square to square, that closes on itself and passes through every pearl. The two kinds of pearl tell the line where it may turn.

The rules

  1. Draw a single closed loop that passes through every pearl.
  2. The loop goes from square to square and comes back to where it started, without breaking.
  3. It doesn't have to pass through every square.
  4. On a solid pearl the loop turns, and on each side it goes straight for at least one more square.
  5. On a hollow pearl the loop goes straight through, and it turns in at least one of the two squares next to it.
Solid pearl. The line turns on it, and goes straight for at least one more square on each side.
Hollow pearl. The line goes straight through it, and turns in at least one of the squares next to it.

Where to start

Look at the edges first. A solid pearl needs room for two squares in a straight line on each side, so one that sits in the first or second row can't send its line upwards. The same goes for every edge of the board.

Before your first game of Pearls, the app shows you how to play, with the same rules as here.
